"Madame X? That's a bordello." My friend said to me.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Um."
Well honestly, my friend works right around the corner. And while Madame X is not a bordello presently, it is where Lady Jane's Salon is held on the first Monday of every month. Founded by
Hope Tarr,
Leanna Renee Hieber,
Maya Rodale and
Ron Hogan, Lady Jane's gives authors a venue to read their work and mingle and readers to hear their work and mingle. Admission is either $5.00 or a gently used Romance novel.
This past Monday, December 3rd,
Alma Katsu,
Jeri Smith-Ready,
Miranda Neville and
Michael Boccacino were on deck. Unfortunately, my friends and I including Maria from
The Serpentine Library, had to leave at the halfway mark but we were able to listen to Alma and Jeri read from their books. Alma talked about her debut novel
The Takers and admitted it took 10 years to write. (Vindication for all those with WIP!) She also read a passage from her follow up,
The Reckoning that includes a appearance by Lord Byron. Jeri read the beginning of my favorite scene between Ciara and Shane from her WVMP series
Wicked Game and a poignant scene from
Shine.

I'm SOOOOOO jealous. I would LOVE to hear Jeri read from Wicked Game. That is one of my favorite books.
What passage did she read?
Wow, this sounds like so much fun! Let me know when there is a branch in Holland!
HOW FUN!
Taker looks gorgeous! You always go to such awesome, bookish events! For Christmas I'm buying myself a ticket to BEA and my train tickets, and then I'll spend the time with you, gazing lovingly at all your amazing books! ;)

HOW FUN!!!! I swear, you go to the coolest events Pam! I would love to go to one of those locations, but unfortunately they are all hours and hours and a plane ride away from me. Dammit. I have gotten to meet Leanna Renee Hieber a couple of times though, she's absolutely adorable!
I'm very fortunate I live close to the area. But maybe not so fortunate on my wallet! lol.
