"How do you know?" I asked.
Well honestly, my friend works right around the corner. And while Madame X is not a bordello presently, it is where Lady Jane's Salon is held on the first Monday of every month. Founded by Hope Tarr, Leanna Renee Hieber, Maya Rodale and Ron Hogan, Lady Jane's gives authors a venue to read their work and mingle and readers to hear their work and mingle. Admission is either $5.00 or a gently used Romance novel.
This past Monday, December 3rd, Alma Katsu, Jeri Smith-Ready, Miranda Neville and Michael Boccacino were on deck. Unfortunately, my friends and I including Maria from The Serpentine Library, had to leave at the halfway mark but we were able to listen to Alma and Jeri read from their books. Alma talked about her debut novel The Takers and admitted it took 10 years to write. (Vindication for all those with WIP!) She also read a passage from her follow up, The Reckoning that includes a appearance by Lord Byron. Jeri read the beginning of my favorite scene between Ciara and Shane from her WVMP series Wicked Game and a poignant scene from Shine.
