Haven Launch

Today was the launch party for Haven by Kristi Cook at The Voracious Reader.  The store was packed!  Goodies were served (petit fours, punch, even sushi!), swag given out and the bookstore had the same welcoming atmosphere that I remembered from last time.  If you are ever in Larchmont, NY, I urge you to visit.

I was happy to see a few faces I recognized, Maria from The Serpentine Library, and Demaris brought more of her pals from Good Choice Reading.

After Kristi chatted with people, she read an excerpt from Haven.  She made sure to thank her family, her editor Jennifer Klonsky from Simon Pulse, and the bloggers who attended from all over.  Kristi mentioned that bloggers were her cheerleaders and really appreciated them.  We appreciate you too Kristi!  Writers who are so approachable are important for many reasons.  So please keep writing!  I haven't read Haven yet, but I've been hearing positive feedback.  I'm looking forward to it for several reasons, one of them being that it takes place in the Hudson Valley!

Scroll down for a few pictures and giveaway.

I think I'll start. If I could have one psychic ability it would be to either read minds or see the future. I'm sure both of those would have consequences, but I could also seeing them having the most potential to be helpful.

Awesome! I've been wanting to read Haven!

If I had one psychic ability, I would probably go with being able to move things with my mind. That could come in handy!

    Thanks for having the contest!!

I really like the idea of having the ability to calm other people's (and my own) emotions... maybe it's just that I have 5 children and it gets a little tense?

I need this book... like NEED this book - my daughter's name is Haven - so I'll just wait a few days to order I guess - just in case :)

    +1 for a new follower :)

So freaking awesome Pam! The pictures are great! And you are so cool to attend these events then offer giveaways! Love you!

I'd hate to be able to read minds, but I wouldn't mind being able to use glamour to manipulate people into believing I have perfect hair and makeup all the time without any effort. Does that count?

    Hi,
The pictures are great - wow, you're fast putting them up! Thanks so much for taking so many pictures of Kristi and me and my daughter at the launch party. It was so much fun, and Kristi was wonderful! Plus the book is so pretty!! How lucky that you were all able to meet!

Hope to put the pictures you took on my blog soon. :-)

p.s. don't count me in the giveaway since I bought my own copy today. But man, I would love the ability to read the future. For planning purposes, of course. ;-)

I'm all about moving/manipulating things with my mind... oh yea.

    I'm loving all these answers.
Calming people is such a nice power, I feel guilty I wasn't so altruistic as to say that.
Telekinesis would come in very handy and seeing the future. For planning purposes only of course.
@Ang-I wanted Samantha to be my mother...*so* bad!
@Missie-Your answer is genius. And hysterical.

I want the powers that Stephen King's Carrie had- which I guess is mainly telekinesis, but that horror babe could do just about anything. I would use my powers for good though... mostly.

    Thanks for the giveaway! :)

I think if I had a psychic ability, I would be able to manipulate other people's minds. Not necessarily reading them, but manipulating them into doing what I order them to do. Mwahahaha, I'm evil! XD
